Chevy built an all-American EV truck — why is nobody buying it?

Chevy’s Silverado EV offers more than 400 miles of range, a huge frunk and bed, roomy cabin, home backup power, towing capability, and hands-free highway driving. Despite seeming like a strong fit for American truck buyers, GM sold only about 14,000 units in the U.S. and Canada last year, far behind the gas Silverado.

The Silverado EV highlights the gap between building a technically compelling electric truck and convincing traditional pickup buyers to switch. Its slow uptake suggests EV truck adoption still faces barriers around price, styling, charging habits, and brand expectations, even when the product is highly capable.
