Bluesky embraces long-form content to counter X Articles

Bluesky is adding support for long-form content through an integration with Standard.site, letting users discover articles, blog posts, and newsletters from AT Protocol apps. The content will initially appear as enhanced link cards, expanding Bluesky beyond short posts while giving independent publishing tools access to its 44.5 million registered users.

The move highlights Bluesky’s strategy of using AT Protocol as a shared infrastructure layer rather than building every feature in-house. By connecting social distribution with independent publishing, Bluesky is positioning itself as an open alternative to X’s more closed and subscription-gated long-form model.
