Choose materials for the lesson objective

Explaining Python syntax and helping students fix a broken program require different materials. A worked example may be enough to introduce a concept. Debugging practice needs an editor where students can change and run code. Decide what students will do in the lesson before choosing the format.

Use a course, video, or simulation

In a coding course, students can edit and run code beside the explanation. A video can demonstrate a sequence of steps or show how something changes over time. A simulation lets students change values and compare results, such as adjusting a hanging mass to see how it affects a spring's period.

Try the activity on a classroom device

Open the examples below on the devices your students will use. Check the screen layout, controls, and instructions by completing an activity yourself. In the coding course, try correcting an error and running the code again.
