Apple and LG team up on new smart home gear, starting with a lock, doorbell, and thermostat

Apple is reportedly working with LG on LG-branded smart home products, including a video doorbell, thermostat, cameras, deadbolt lock, and floodlight camera. The devices are expected to integrate with Apple’s rumored smart home hub and support Thread and Matter protocols.

The partnership suggests Apple may be trying to expand its smart home ecosystem without manufacturing every device itself. Support for Matter and Thread could make the lineup more interoperable, helping Apple compete more directly with Amazon and Google in connected home hardware.
