Neon sticks it to A24 by announcing a Creative Commons SCP Foundation movie

Neon says it is developing an SCP Foundation movie and has already contacted the SCP Foundation Wiki team, pledging to release it under the CC BY-SA license. The announcement follows backlash against A24, which reportedly did not consult the wiki team or commit to the required Creative Commons terms; Neon’s project is still not an official SCP film and wiki staff are not involved in production.

Neon is using licensing compliance and community outreach as a competitive advantage, turning A24’s misstep into a quick PR win. The episode shows how studios pursuing open-license IP must treat fan communities and legal terms as core parts of development, not afterthoughts.
