Fireworks Research introduced Ember-1, a specialized model built on Kimi K3 that delivers similar coding and agent performance while using 40% fewer tokens. The company says it trained the model to remove unnecessary reasoning without sacrificing accuracy, validating results through benchmarks, customer A/B tests, and internal developer use.

Ember-1 reflects a growing focus on efficiency-tuned models as AI coding workloads become too costly at scale. Rather than only pushing larger reasoning models, vendors are increasingly optimizing for token economy, latency, and production cost while preserving task quality.
