These camera apps give you more control over the iPhone 18 Pro’s aperture

The iPhone 18 Pro’s native Camera app limits its variable aperture to four settings in both manual and automatic modes. The Verge reports that Apple’s SDK allows third-party apps, including BlackMagic Camera, to offer more granular aperture control than Apple exposes by default.

This shows Apple is keeping some advanced camera capabilities hidden behind simplified default controls while still enabling pro apps to serve power users. The gap creates room for third-party camera apps to differentiate as smartphone photography hardware becomes more configurable.
