Apple and Major League Baseball streamed a Red Sox-Yankees game on Vision Pro as the first in a four-game immersive sports series. The experience was technically impressive and visually striking, but the author found it oddly lonely and not clearly better than watching baseball on TV.
COMMENTARY
The test shows how sports leagues and platform owners are experimenting with immersive media to make live events feel more premium and interactive. But VR sports still has a major hurdle: replicating the communal, low-friction appeal of traditional broadcasts without making viewers feel isolated.
