Trump is upping the price of Big Tech’s favorite visa

The Department of Homeland Security said it will impose a fee of more than $103,000 on H-1B visas, a program widely used by major tech companies. Separately, the State Department reportedly plans to revoke visas for up to 200,000 asylum seekers, which could become the largest mass visa revocation in U.S. history.

The moves suggest the administration is shifting immigration enforcement toward stripping legal status, not just increasing arrests and deportations. Higher H-1B costs could reshape tech hiring and talent pipelines, while mass revocations would expand the use of administrative power to reduce legal immigration.
