EDITOR BRIEF
Lucasfilm used D23 to debut the first trailer for Ahsoka season two, which is set to arrive on January 20, 2027. The footage teases a darker, more mystical Star Wars story centered on Grand Admiral Thrawn’s threat to reignite galaxy-wide war after the Empire’s fall.
COMMENTARY
The previews suggest Lucasfilm is leaning further into genre expansion within Star Wars, blending witchcraft, darker fantasy elements, and prestige TV-style serialized storytelling. Keeping Starfighter footage exclusive to D23 also shows how major franchises are using fan events to build hype while tightly controlling early marketing.
