The next big indie game publisher is taking some exciting swings

Kinetic Publishing, a new indie publisher formed by the team behind Phasmophobia, held its first showcase and announced five upcoming games planned for 2027 and 2028. The biggest reveal is Precognition, the next FMV-driven, nonlinear narrative game from Telling Lies and Immortality creator Sam Barlow.

Kinetic’s debut slate suggests successful indie studios are increasingly using their capital and audience to become publishers themselves. Backing a known auteur like Barlow gives the company instant credibility while signaling demand for more experimental narrative games in the indie market.
