Fastmail lets customers choose an EU data region with primary email storage on company-owned servers in Amsterdam

Fastmail now allows users to make the European Union the primary storage region for their email and files, using its own secure infrastructure in Amsterdam. The company says EU-region accounts will keep the main live copy of data in the EU, with fallback and replicas designed for availability and resilience.

The move reflects growing customer demand for data residency options driven by privacy expectations, compliance needs, and regional regulation. Fastmail is also differentiating itself from cloud-dependent rivals by emphasizing owned infrastructure and operational control.
