xAI open-sources Grok Build, a Rust-based terminal AI coding agent for editing, shell tasks, and CI workflows

xAI has published the source code for Grok Build, its terminal-based AI coding agent, in a public GitHub repository. The Rust-based tool can understand codebases, edit files, run shell commands, search the web, support long-running tasks, and operate interactively, headlessly, or inside editors via ACP.

The release puts xAI into the fast-growing market for agentic coding tools alongside products from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and startups. Open-sourcing the CLI could accelerate developer adoption, encourage integrations, and make terminal-native AI agents a more standard part of software engineering workflows.
