Meta is reportedly developing prototype smart glasses that can continuously record audio and take photos every few seconds, letting wearers query Meta AI about what the device sensed. The Financial Times says one proposed design would avoid giving users or Meta direct access to raw recordings, instead using extracted metadata to power AI features.

The project points to a broader race toward always-on AI wearables that act as ambient memory assistants rather than occasional cameras. If commercialized, Meta will need to balance utility with privacy concerns around bystanders, consent, data retention, and how much sensory context AI systems should collect.
