Box survey: Why enterprise AI leaders are outperforming their peers

A Box survey of 1,640 IT decision makers finds enterprise AI maturity rose sharply over the past year, with organizations calling themselves advanced or leading edge jumping from 8% to 64%. The report says 80% of companies saw at least a 10% return on AI investment, while leading-edge firms were far more likely to report ROI above 25%.

The findings suggest AI advantage is shifting from experimentation to operational discipline, including governance, platform flexibility, and reliable content access. Companies that can move agents into repeatable production workflows may widen the gap over peers still using AI in fragmented, ad hoc ways.
