Unconventional AI introduced Un-0, an image generator built on a simulated system of coupled oscillators, positioning it as an early step toward physics-based AI computing. On ImageNet 64×64, the model reaches an FID score of 6.74, comparable to leading conventional image-generation methods at their initial release, and the company has open-sourced weights, training, and ablation code.

Un-0 reflects growing interest in physical computing as AI scaling runs into energy and hardware constraints. While the current system is simulated rather than deployed on novel hardware, it offers a benchmark for whether dynamical systems can eventually support competitive generative AI with far lower power use.
