Google Home will soon get better at recognizing you

Google is updating Google Home’s Familiar Faces feature starting June 23 to identify tagged people even when their faces are not clearly visible. The system will use non-biometric signals such as body size and clothing color, and will refresh household image examples automatically to reduce inaccurate alerts.

The update reflects a broader shift in smart home security from face-only recognition toward contextual identity detection. While it may make camera alerts more useful, it also raises fresh questions about how much ambient personal data smart home platforms should analyze to improve recognition accuracy.
