Nothing cancels this year’s CMF phone due to RAM prices

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis said the company will not launch a new CMF phone this year because elevated memory prices made it impossible to deliver a meaningful upgrade at the brand’s budget price point. CEO Carl Pei also recently said RAM costs have doubled for the upcoming Phone 4A, pressuring Nothing’s mid-range lineup.

The cancellation shows how the memory supply crunch is moving beyond PCs and AI servers into consumer smartphones, especially lower-margin models. If component inflation persists, budget phone makers may delay launches, raise prices, or ship more modest upgrades, weakening competition in affordable Android devices.
