Hue’s wired wall modules bring non-smart lights into its ecosystem

Philips Hue introduced its first wired wall modules, which install behind existing switches to connect non-smart lights to the Hue ecosystem. The company also launched more affordable Play table and floor lamps and upgraded E14 candle bulbs with a broader white spectrum and Matter-over-Thread support.

Hue is expanding beyond smart bulbs toward retrofit controls that make legacy lighting easier to manage without replacing fixtures. The Europe-only launch suggests regional wiring and certification hurdles still shape smart home rollout strategies, even as Matter pushes the industry toward broader interoperability.
