You can now use the Game Boy Camera with your phone

Epilogue released Flashback, a new iOS and Android app that lets users take photos with the Game Boy Camera when it is connected to a smartphone via the $50 GB Operator. The accessory already supports Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance cartridges on PCs, and previously enabled the Game Boy Camera to work as a low-fi desktop webcam.

The app turns a niche retro accessory into a more portable creative tool, extending the life of Nintendo’s quirky 1998 camera for modern users. It also reflects a broader trend of retro hardware being repackaged through mobile apps and USB accessories for collectors, creators, and nostalgia-driven communities.
