Valve is so behind on Steam Controller orders that some won’t ship until 2027

Valve is now showing reservation holders estimated order windows for the Steam Controller: by September 2026, by December 2026, or sometime in 2027. The company says reservations made now point to 2027 shipping, while stressing it has no plans to stop making the controller.

The delays suggest stronger-than-expected demand for Valve’s gaming hardware, but also highlight persistent limits in its production planning. By publishing long-range estimates, Valve is trying to manage expectations and avoid backlash as hardware scarcity becomes part of the product’s early narrative.
