Final Fantasy VII’s remake trilogy will conclude with Revelation

Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in its remake trilogy, during Summer Game Fest Live. The game is slated for a simultaneous spring 2027 release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with features including Highwind airship travel, playable Vincent and Cid, battles against Weapons, and visits to locations like Wutai.

A day-one multi-platform launch signals Square Enix is moving away from staggered exclusivity for one of its biggest franchises. The expanded open-world traversal and restored late-game content suggest the finale is being positioned as both a nostalgia payoff and a showcase for cross-platform blockbuster RPG development.
